Did you bring too much stuff to your dorm room only to find out that not all of it is going to fit in there? Yeah...it happened to me too. When I was getting ready to move to school I thought that I was going to have enough room to not only bring every piece of clothing I owned, but in addition two guitars (I brought one and didn't even end up playing much), and a surround sound computer speaker system, and you get the idea. It didn't work, and it was way more work then was needed to pack the car in the first place. Luckily, I have already made these mistakes, so now I am here to pass along my experience so that you don't make the same ones. I have comprised I list of the top 5 items that every college student need to have in their dorm room.
- Memory foam mattress topper! I feel so strongly that this is the number one thing every college student needs to have that I even started my own business to sell them to other students so that they could sleep more comfortably (see below posts for more info).
- A hanger that can hang multiple pairs of jeans. Yes, your closet is small so anything that can help you save space is a must.
- A shower caddy. Don't go to the bathroom without one...it is one of the most useful items you can bring with you for dorm life.
- storage boxes that slide under your bed. You can find them just about anywhere, and anything can fit into them. They are great because they are large enough to hold plenty of stuff, but thin enough so you still have room to put stuff on top of them (such as shoes and sneakers).
- Which leads me to my final most important thing a new college student can bring to the dorms...bed risers. They will give you the space to be able to put more stuff under your bed.
